Gardening shouldn't be just about chores. If you love lots of flowers but have a busy life, you’ll want your garden to be a place of joy, rest and relaxation - not something to add to your long to-do list.
Flower Carpet® roses deliver maximum flower power for minimum effort. There’s a colour to suit any taste and once established these bullet-proof beauties perform for years and years, no matter the weather.
With a super El Nino predicted this summer, another key benefit is the hardiness factor. Flower Carpet® roses will happily grow in the most adverse dry spots, requiring little if any watering once their roots have established.
New this season is the irresistible Flower Carpet® Peach. Its open, semi-double blooms are a delightful blend of deep orange, gold and soft peach, radiating out from a dark centre to a halo of paler petals.
As we’d expect, Flower Carpet® Peach shares the characteristics of its siblings; disease resistant, drought tolerant, and flowering continuously for up to 10 months of the year. Because these roses are self-cleaning, there’s no need to dead-head them either. That means more time to sit back and smell the roses!
You might know a few friends and family members who will tell you they can’t be trusted not to kill plants. The fear of failure can put many a new would-be gardener off even giving it a go. When encouraging the next generation of gardeners, it pays to start them off with a plant that pretty much guarantees success. Planting a Flower Carpet® rose in a sunny spot near to high traffic areas is a wonderful way to help a new gardener ‘catch the gardening bug’ and ensure a new generation of plant parents are inspired to give it a go!
Clean up: is as simple as a quick sweep up of dead leaves and litter under plants in the spring to reduce disease risk.
Cut: Flower Carpet roses don’t need a degree to work out pruning. Simply use shears to cut back 2/3rds of the growth and they’ll happily repeat flower year after year. Mulching once done suppresses weeds and keeps the root zone moist.
Feed: In spring and mid-summer spread slow-release fertiliser around the drip line of your roses. Occasional feeding means even more gorgeous flowers.
